I always end up sending and forwarding articles, videos, music, etc. that I liked (mostly to my sisters) so I figured my blog was a place I could dump all of them... cause why not?

Here's one that we watched in my class of Social Determinants of Health. It's a TED talk called The Danger of a Single Story by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.Our lives, our cultures, are composed of many overlapping stories. Novelist Chimamanda Adichie tells the story of how she found her authentic cultural voice — and warns that if we hear only a single story about another person or country, we risk a critical misunderstanding.

Thanks to Netflix for making it so easy to watch this film in bed. I watched Eat Pray Love when it first came out and all I remember was being really bored by it... Fast forward 6 years later and there were lots of tears, laughs, and reminiscing involved.
So in every place she visited, she formed relationships with a few locals and learned more about their culture and background through it. Watching it made me think about the people I've met on my trips. There's Lisa from Pre Rup Cambodia, Dung our tour guide in Ho Chi Minh Vietnam, our hosts for the cooking class in Bali Indonesia, and many many more. Whether it was a quick chat while buying food from their stall, or a whole day tour spent together, or a 30 minute conversation, the locals I've met during my trips easily become the highlight of it. After getting past the language barrier, there are so many things to learn from people who come from a completely different life.
This movie made me miss Italy and Bali BADLY. Like Julia Roberts, I want to spend four months eating my way through Italy and bike through the rice fields of Bali once again. Ah, I can't wait to travel again.

I'm not even going to attempt to put into words how much I idolize Lin Manuel Miranda. At this point I've watched hours worth of interviews, listened to the Hamilton soundtrack to the point where I memorize every note and...ugh, I said I wouldn't even attempt it. Well, here's a new GQ article that came out...another reason to love him.

P.S. I finished reading Me Before You (found the song in the soundtrack). I thought the movie was pretty accurate except that they left out the maze scenes!!! :( That was so important for her character.
